For many years lead sheathing was the only solution for cables being exposed to hydrocarbons. Whilst offering superb protection it does have its drawbacks.
Lead cables are very heavy, expensive and difficult to install. The toxic fumes released during production also make them very harmful to the environment. Due to their environmental impact there are few factories that still make them in Europe and less people with stock. Now there’s an alternative.
Embracing the latest in modern production techniques and offering many advantages over the traditional solution, Tri-Barrier is ideal for instrumentation and control applications. The lead inner sheath is replaced with a laminate layer of Aluminum, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polyamide (PA) to produce an aromatic & aliphatic chemical barrier.
The cables are then finished with a Galvanised Steel Wire Armour (GSWA) and HDPE or PVC sheath. TRi-Barrier cables are lighter weight with smaller outer diameters than lead sheath cables allowing more cables to be installed quicker with less tray and containment being required.
Additionally they are faster to produce using more cost effective materials and can be manufactured in smaller quantities to reduce wastage. All these advantages add up to saving you time and money whilst contributing to looking after our planet.
The TRi-Barrier range is available in pairs, cores and triples from 0.5mm² to 6.0mm² with collective or individual and collective screens.
